Raya 2011 - Menziarahi Pusara Kaum Keluarga
|
|
It is a departure from normal Raya entry.
I thought I should just highlight something that should be a reminder to me (and to all of us).
Graveyards!
Typical Malay graveyards in Malaysia are not something worth remembering, beyond the memories of our departed ones. It is typically unkempt, and just like our orchards, it is normally cleaned up once a year, just before Raya day or on Raya day itself.
So this Tekah Malay graveyard is a breath of fresh air. It is green and well-kept. Not yet perfect, but moving towards that direction.

Sesudah Senja - Purnama Menjelma
|
|
Ingat lagu Kopratasa - Sesetia Malam? Tak ingat? Cuma tahu Masihkah Kau Ingat saja.
I dont blame you. Song is so so but I would remember it for the fact that this song is about the
loyalty. Malam tentunya menyusul selesai siang menjalankan tugasnya.

|
|
It had never crossed my mind to visit Bera. But for the lack of available rooms elsewhere in the country,
we had no choice but chose a location off the beaten path; somewhere everybody else would
never thought of going to.
And be pleasantly surprised! Very surprised.
The sunset was so beautiful - we were there till very late, enjoying to the very last the light of the day.
Forget about the usual getaway - go Bera the next time, will you?
Credit for the photo is shared by the Father & Sons - Abah, Arif and Akmal.
This is the vew from somewhere in the middle of Bera. I love the green grass and it looks like a carpet.
And the pandanus trees and its surrounding look very exotic.
View from the Tasik Bera Resort, framed by two large Balau trees.

Masjid Minangkabau - 1895 and 2010
|
|
When I saw the pix of old mosques of Indonesia in http://majestad.wordpress.com blog, I was
like hmmm,, have I seen this before?
It is not everyday that you would see old photo of mosques throughout Indonesia (or Malaysia for that matter).
Many of the mosques are simply majestic and they are Indonesian in architecture. Nothing like the normal
mosques one would see here in Malaysia.
But when I saw this pic, I thought it is something I had seen before.
This Majid Minangkabau was taken in 1895
Is this the same mosque taken by Latif and co during the Padang quake? Do you think they are the same,
may be at a slightly different angle? Would this mosque withstand 100 years of quake
and tropical weather and still be standing?
The proportions of the three tiered roof looks the same, the pinnacle a bit different though. The background
hill does not look like they are not exactly the same and the proportion is a bit questionable. But the
background is similar i.e. a hill nevertheless
.
I wonder if there's a stream or 'kali' passing by the mosque in 2010. Just wish that more pix at different angles
were taken. But then again, I would not have known that the mosque is that old actually.

The View from a Hill

I guess I would not repeat what's written in my Time in a bottle blog. You can read the background there.
But here are the pics in their full splendour. All pictures were raken by Akmal Hariri.
Dateline: 25 February 2010. Jabal Nur, Makkah al-Mukarramah.
Overall view of Makkah
Close-up view of Masjidil Haram. Can you see the eight minarets?
Akmal posing with Makkah and Masjidil Haram in the background.
Unfortunately we did not bring our tripod for this occasion.
And here is the view from Hira.
